3. Try This Change the Privacy Relationship
Privacy and Sharing are based on which Group you belong to. Friends can share more than External Contacts.

As we saw earlier, Lync can set Alerts for Contacts who are in your Privacy Workgroup, even when the Do Not Disturb sign is on.

The Privacy Relationships are:
Friends and Family
Workgroup
Colleagues
External Contacts
Blocked Contacts

There is an Auto-assign Relationship, which resets a Contact's privacy relationship back to the Lync default. No friends. <sigh>
